I make matchbox shrines inside small matchboxes. They are meant to share the sentiments of hope, compassion, appreciation, and inner knowing. I love the idea of matchbox shrines carrying these elements and spreading them out into the world.

shrines in drawers
"lost & found"~ a shrine made inside an old drawer. a winter tree made of clay, river rocks as wind, dried rosebuds sitting on branches. lining the drawer are dictionary pages with definitions included like "enlightenment" & "emancipate". the tree is growing out of a ground made of flower seeds, walnut shells, seashells, and a man made skull.
"birth & death are interchangeable words"~ built inside a drawer, collage of photographs of all of my grandmothers related by blood. yet it also holds the nonphysical connection to the many elder women who have guided me as a grandmother would.
